5 Day Morocco Desert Tour From Ouarzazate

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate to start this tour in the Moroccan desert. We take a stunning route through the southern part of Morocco, crossing the Tizi-n-Tinifift Pass (1,710 meters), during this desert tour in Morocco. We pass through the southern road of Morocco, entering the Draa Valley, the longest valley in Morocco, stretching 1,220 km, until Tan-Tan, where the Draa Valley meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Along the southern route, we stop at Tamegroute to visit the famous green pottery kilns, an essential stop on any desert tour in Morocco. Then, we reach M’hamid, the gateway to the Moroccan desert, after approximately 4 hours of driving. In M’hamid, you can enjoy a traditional lunch with local hosts to discover Moroccan cuisine.

In the afternoon, you will take a walk to visit the old ksar of M’hamid, an iconic ksar of the Moroccan desert, during this adventure in the desert. The approximately 4 km round-trip walk in the ksar will allow you to explore the local history of the desert gate in Morocco. After this visit, you will enjoy dinner and spend the night at the bivouac, at the gates of the desert, in a unique setting for an authentic Moroccan desert experience.

After breakfast in the Moroccan desert, you get to know your expert camel team, ready for an unforgettable adventure. The start of your camel trek in the Moroccan desert immerses you in nomadic life, providing a full immersion into the lives of desert nomads. This unique day transports you out of time, where you bring all the necessary items to live independently in the Moroccan desert, with complete autonomy during your camel hike.

Having lunch in the shade of tamarisks in the desert, a relaxing moment during your camel trek, then continuing on foot or on camel back through the Moroccan desert. In the evening, a campfire crackles in the desert, where you share a convivial meal under the starry sky or in a tent, for an immersion into nomadic life. Spending the night in the Moroccan desert under the stars or in a tent completes this unique experience.

The walk during this camel trek in the Moroccan desert lasts about 3 to 4 hours, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the Moroccan desert, its arid landscapes, and oases. This adventure in nomadic territory, with camel riding, lunch in the shade of tamarisks, campfire, and overnight under the stars or in a tent, offers a total immersion into the nomadic lifestyle of the Moroccan desert.

We resume walking at the pace of the camels to reach M’hamid, still fully immersed in the Moroccan desert. A peaceful day crossing the dunes, with a convivial lunch in the heart of the desert. Then, we return to the comfort of the bivouac, where the night is magical, in an exceptional setting, under a starry sky. The night is spent at the camp.

The journey through the Moroccan desert starting from Ouarzazate continues aboard our 4x4 vehicles. We take a Saharan track for 1.5 hours to reach the majestic Erg Chegaga dunes, the tallest in Morocco (up to 300 meters).Along the way, there is a stop at the sacred oasis for lunch. In the early afternoon, we settle into the bivouac to enjoy the breathtaking views and a magical sunset. The night is spent in a nomadic tent.

We leave Erg Chegaga, crossing the dried-up Iriki Lake and the Laâjirmia Oasis. We make a stop at Foum Zguid, where we reconnect with the paved road after covering 90 km of track in 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Lunch is served in a village renowned for its carpets. We visit a traditional workshop to discover the different techniques of Moroccan weaving. Then, we return to Ouarzazate, marking the end of your Moroccan desert circuit starting from Ouarzazate.
